This is Dale Goble with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

Clay Corder reported a CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER on June 27th
northwest of Benton City in Benton County. The bird was in some
locust trees at the end of Sharp Road. Washington DeLorme p. 43, B-
4.

John and Mary Hirth headed south the past week and report that they
found 3 immature SANDHILL CRANE and a LINCOLN SPARROW on the
west side of Cascade Reservoir on June 28th. On the east side of the
reservoir they found 2 SHORT-EARED OWLS on the 27th. Idaho
DeLorme p. 43, B-4.

At Tolo Lake on the 27th and 29th there was a SHORT-EARED OWL.
On the 29th there was a FRANKLIN'S GULL, an AMERICAN AVOCET,
and 2 BLACK TERNS. As John noted, shorebird migration appears to
have begun. Tolo Lake is on the Camas Prairie, Idaho DeLorme p. 55,
C-4.

Finally, Kas called in to report BLUE GROSBEAKS, UPLANDS
SANDPIPER, and GREAT GREY OWL. The Grosbeaks were near
Pocatello. The Sandpiper was in Round Valley at its customary
location and the Great Greys were near Donnelly, Idaho, in Valley
County. You can call Kas at 208-883-0943 for additional information.

Good Birding.
