This is the Vancouver Bird Alert for Friday, July 3, 9:30 pm update.

There has been no relocation of the Red-necked Stint seen Thursday evening
at Iona Island.

The female Xantus' Hummingbird continues to be seen daily in Gibsons. The
homeowner requests that birders phone ahead to arrange a time to visit and
to obtain directions. please call Lyn at area code 604-886-3338.

Sightings for Friday, July 3:

A male Lazuli Bunting was seen in a field opposite 23831 Lougheed Highway,
Albion.

2 Purple Martins were at Crescent Beach and 3 Green Herons were at Derby
Reach Park.


Thursday, July 2:

A Red-necked Stint was seen this evening at Iona Beach on Iona Island on
the mudflats behind the washrooms. The bird was seen by several observers
before it was flushed by a dog.


Wednesday, July 1:

Maplewood Mudflats had 4 Osprey, a few Purple Martins and 2 Caspian Terns.

3 Barred Owls were seen in Campbell Valley Park.

At Iona Island in the inner ponds area there were 1 Pectoral Sandpiper, 1
Least Sandpiper, 5 Semi-palmated Sandpipers, 30 Western Sandpipers, 1
Lesser Yellowlegs and an adult Peregrine Falcon.


Tuesday, June 30:

A pair of Eastern Kingbirds were at Colony farm.

4 Purple Martins, 2 Osprey and a Bullock's Oriole were at Blackie Spit.
