Hi Liz

I went to Kauai and Maui... I thought Kauai was better for birds.
There's a nice little pamphlet about the birds of Hawaii that lists the
birds by island, and Kauai seems to have a nice collection. You can get the
booklet at Flaura&Fauna books I think, or definitely in the Honolulu
airport.

Bring rubber boots!

>>Dear tweets,
>>
>>Just wanted to second Hal Opperman's sightings of BLACK SWIFTS in the
>>Teanaway area. My husband and I backpacked up the Stafford Creek
>>drainage over the weekend and saw the swifts as Hal described, flying at
>>treetop level, near the trailhead (Green Trails map No. 209). We also
>>saw a THREE-TOED WOODPECKER not far from our camp near a gorgeous alpine

>>
>>Now for the real reason I posted: My husband and I are thinking of
>>visiting the Hawaiian Islands in September. Neither one of us has ever
>>been there before. Any recommendations from birders as to which island
>>to visit, where to bird? You can reply to the address below. Thanks.
