If you go to Oahu, check out the Aiea Ridge Trail, in the hills north of Pearl Harbor. We saw several native species there - hard to do in Hawaii these days. Also if you're "stuck" in Honolulu for any length of time, the huge park on the east side has some great birds - go way in the back and look in the trees and shrubberies for fairy terns and mannikins.
