Dear Tweeters,

I have been lucky enough to go to Hawaii on several occasions as a child. In particular, I was able to do some birding on each of my trips. I have visited the Hawaii, Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. I would have to recommend Kauai first as far as overall beauty and birds go.

Two places stick out in my mind. On the top of Kauai there is an incredible rainforest with native species still to be found. And for some of the odd shorebirds and seafowl you should check out the wildlife refuge (a wetland) on the North Shore of Hawaii.

There is a bus on the big island that runs around the entire island for $0.80. It is a very good way to get around if you have limited transport.
