In one of my ornithology journals at home there is a recent article on
the "itinerant nesting behavior" of Tricolored Blackbirds. I will try and
find it and report on it for Tweeters.
This could certainly be a great example of itinerant nesting.

For the longest time it was believed that Tricolored Blackbirds were only
found in California and then I noticed that the latest field guides show
them in the Klamath area of Oregon. Being up in eastern Washington is
quite a jump. I find this very interesting.

I don't recall any historical mention of Tricolored Blackbirds being
found outside of California. Anybody have a copy of AC Bent's volume on
blackbirds that could check on what he recorded for distribution? Being
at work can be so inconvienent.
