I am a recent tweeters subscriber (just a few months) and am apalled at the
problem we have over language. If we hosted a group of twelve-year olds I
might understand....

Birders recognize in the many varities of birds there are needs peculiar to
each: some need more space, some need specific habitats to sustain life,
some need an auquatic environment, etc. Responsible birders will endeavor
to give to each whatever its particular needs are, - they will go out of
their way to ensure the needs of the bird is meet. WHY ARE WE NOT WILLING
TO DO THAT?

If the use of certain language diverts the focus from the stated reason for
the mailing list why continue it? Let us stop making our private little
statements and grow up and get on with what we are here for. If there is
felt by certain ones a need to make a "statement" regarding their freedom
to use whatever language they want, fine. Make it elsewhere. Email
privately. Go outside in your neighborhood and shout it out at 2 am. We are
here to deal with birds and birding issues.

Tell us, what does tweeters have to gain by the continued use of such
language that seems so evidently being continued in order to aggrivate? Can
you give us a reason that will be reasonable?

Who would be willing to say this is aiding birding and birding issues?
Probably 99.9 % would say: NOT. And wouldn't most be willing to say that
whoever continues this is disruptive to our purpose and is intentionally
trying to gain an arena for his private little battle? I think most would
say: take your little war elsewhere, we have more important things to do.
