Saw something I wanted to share.

The hairies (hairys?) and downies frequently visit the suet block right
outside my kitchen window. The female hairy brought her two young with her.
They didn't feel brave enough to hang upside down but clung to the tops and
sides of many of the small branches around the suet cage. Since they
couldn't reach the block itself their mother was hanging upside-down from
the bottom of the cage, then coming back on top to feed them. The young
male was beside himself to get to the suet. Making lots of noise, jumping
up and down (so to speak), stretching to the limits of his ability from
various small branches, he finally couldn't wait any longer. His mother was
back hanging upside down from the bottom of the suet cage with her back
parallel to the ground. I guess "sonny" decided her stomach was a landing
field and went for it! After a quick defensive flip by the mother, some
loud squawking, and a well-placed jab, the young male returned to his
stretching and sticking out his very long tongue to get a taste of the
suet. He did NOT attempt any more unauthorized landings.

There are times when birdwatching is waaay too much fun!
