Night hawks grace Port Townsend for a few days every summer. The last
three years there have been a group (6-8) flying around behind the house
here for 2-3 days. Unfortunately a lack of notes means I can't recall the
dates, or even whether it is at the same time each year. I've always
wondered what brought them to town as well. A particular bug hatch or just
a stage where they roam. More typically they can be seen in the clear cuts
a few miles south of town.
