And they're very likely southbound males perhaps from around here heading
down to Baja and other wintering locations to party now the females here are
setting on clutches of eggs. This is about the time of year when most of the
locally territorial male Rufous Hummingbirds Selasphorus rufus leave here.

Any idea what proportion of hummers might migrate offshore? I've heard
reports of migrating hummers as far as fifty miles off the BC coast heading N.
