Subject: city nighthawks

I spent one summer with my uncle in Chicago and we would walk over to the
expressway to watch the nighthawks. They would be very active near the
bright lights by exit ramps and also around billboard lights, both a source
of free bugs for dinner. Perhaps they also liked the warmth/updafts (?)from
the roadway. I know they did nest on the higher flat roofed buildings that
had used gravel on top of the roofing paper.

At the same sight, sparrows had stuffed the wire baskets ( that protected
the light bulbs) under all the overpass lights with grasses and other
nesting material, using the light bulbs as free incubators?
