Read with interest your account of the female woodpeckers bringing young to
your feeder. We have Downy, Hairy, and Pileated nesting here but have only
seen the male of each species bringing young into our suet feeder, never a
female--thought you might be interested to hear this. Do you suppose it would
have something to do with the placement of feeders (ours is perhaps 50 feet
from the kitchen window) or what?
