Hi
Just discovered your site and it looks very interesting. Thought I'd let you know about a
western sandpiper I saw a week ago (July 10), at Iona sewage lagoons in Richmond, BC. It was
banded with two color coded bands, one red over yellow. I phoned the Canadian wildlife service and
the gentleman I talked to said it was banded in Encinitas, Calif., north of San Diego. This was
about all the information I could get. Does anyone know of a website that may aid birders in
identifying banded birds? You would think that if wildlife services go to all the trouble of
banding thousands of birds, they would give more access to info on how to report their sightings,
to people like us, who are always in the field.
