Last week-end, we decided to check out Big Meadow Lake mention in a post
by
Andy Stepinewski.

>From Grand Coulee we went to Colville, took the Aladdin road north to
Meadow road. The lake has 16 free camp sights and two nice trails. One
goes around
the lake and the other goes out and back around a marsh. There is also a
viewing tower.
Saturday afternoon we went to Ione, over to Sullivan Lake and followed
the signs to Salmo Mountain. Beautiful country! Sunday we went on to
Bunch-grass Meadows (south of Sullivan Lake), then south to Spokane and
back to Grand Coulee.

On the way to Colville, Between Sedonia and Addy we saw two PILEATED
WOODPECKERS on a power pole! We stopped and got good views of them.

One half mile from the top of Salmo Mt. we heard woodpeckers. We waited
to see if
they would come closer and they did. There was one female and two male
THREE-TOED WOODPECKERS. Other birds seen along this road:

We stopped at Reardon ponds on the way home. There were six BLACK-NECKED
STILTS in the pond on the west side.
