There were 3 Least Sandpipers on the beach of Commodore Park, near the
locks this morning (Tues). I'm a novice at shorebirds, but given their
small size, narrow black bill and yellow legs, least is my best guess.
These are the first non-Kildeer shorebirds I've seen there, it's only a
beach at low tide. They were sharing the 50 yard beach with two Kildeer,
a few crows, GW Gulls, frisbee throwers, a small child and a dog.Two
Belted Kingfishers were across the canal in Ballard darting between two
groves of trees on either side of the restaurant, two mature Bald Eagles
flew overhead together over the canal from west to east. Also four GB
Herons, two Harbor Seals and lots of Salmon.
