Took advantage of the weather to check out some of the close to home
bird spots. In Coal Creek Park (Bellevue/Newcastle) I observed 3
fledgling Lazuli Buntings following an adult male and exhibiting
"begging" behavior. My references don't show Lazuli Buntings as
breeding birds in King County - I was wondering if there had been any
update to these references or other King County breeding records.

I observed 58 species in 2 hours including:

Cedar Waxwings - about 40
Western Tanagers - 8
Wood Duck (pair in a tiny pool on Coal Creek)
Barred Owl
Saw Whet Owl
albino Song Sparrow - pink eyes and all
Ruffed Grouse with half grown young
Valley Quail with teeny tiny fluffball babies
Big (40-60) flocks of Bushtits (unusual for this time of year)
Evening Grosbeak - 5
Black Headed Grosbeak - 8
Pileated Woodpecker
Red Breasted Sapsucker (working over an old apple tree)
Raven
Turkey Vultures (3 - did you get that Diane?)
Northern Goshawk? (or a VERY large female Coop - short observation)

Wilsons, Townsends, BT Grey, & Orange Crowned Warblers

& a River Otter - in the pool right next to Coal Creek Parkway.

Good Birding to all -
