Hi!

I am new to this list. I'm from Monroe, WA.
Isn't the weather great?!
O.k, to get to my questions, I was at Costco last night & bought a good bird
book
called "Birds of Seattle and Puget Sound" by Chris C. Fisher. On pg#5 it
tells that
many of the 125 species described in the book are the most common ones found
in Seattle. Anyways, my questions are

Has anyone who lives close to Monroe ever seen a Steller's Jay around here?
I have always thought I was seeing Blue Jay's, but now I am thinking maybe I
have possibly
seen Steller's Jay's sometimes when I thought it was a Blue Jay.

Also, I could swear there have been times when my husband & I have been out
birdwatching
that we have seen a crane now & then. This might be a silly question, but do
we have cranes
here?

Here in Monroe we are so lucky because my favorite birds of all are here
often...which are owls.
I am trying to figure out though from the other night, I heard a screech &
knew it would be an owl, I screeched
a screech sound & this wonderful owl flew over, but in this book I bought it
says the Screech-Owl is 8-9 in.(females are
slightly larger), but the one the other night was it looked like about 16
in. long with a wing span of about 29 in. or so.
The underneath was a medium brown. It was beautiful *S*

My parents live in Duvall & they just recently moved to a new location
there, my mom was telling me tonight on the phone that there is a bird that
makes this strange loud peep type of sound at night time & in the early
mornings, every night & day.
I told her I would come out there with my new book & we will need to see if
we can find the bird & see if it is one that's in this book.
Thanks for listening!
Janet
