3 Black Turnstones were sighted this noon on the East end of the log
storage on the North side of Commencement Bay in Tacoma. Also 7 Spotted
Sandpipers, 6 Least Sandpipers, and 3 Kildeer.

Just finished watching a Glaucous-winged Gull subdue and beach about a
12" Spotted Ratfish. All told, the gull spent about 25 minutes working
the Ratfish until s/he was able to get a good hold on it and swim it to
the shore. I've never seen or heard of this before and it was
interesting to watch (although our poor Cat now has developed a sudden
insight as to his possible place on the food chain).
