On July 27, 2 out of town guests and I hiked to 3rd Burroughs mountain
out of Sunrise, on the NE side of Mount Rainier. For 6200'+ it was
still amazingly hot, at least in the high 80s, but the wildflowers were
worth it. They are definitely peaking right now. Birds seen: NORTHERN
GOSHAWK, Vaux's Swift, Townsend's Solitaire, Clark's Nutcracker, Gray
Jay, Rufous Hummingbird, Horned Larks feeding young, American Pipits
feeding young, Mountain Bluebirds feeding young, Mountain Chickadee, Fox
Sparrow and a Winter Wren.
