Sightings for Tuesday, July 28

Blackie Spit had a LONG-BILLED CURLEW and two PURPLE MARTINS. Two
RED-NECKED PAHALROPES were at Beach Grove lagoon at the foot of 12th in
Tsawwassen. An OSPREY was seen at Village Park in Langley.

Iona had a GREEN HERON over the outflow pond and 2 HEERMANN'S GULLS on the
Jetty. An AMERICAN KESTRAL was seen near Shannon Road on Sea Island.

In late reports, a female Oldsquaw was seen from the Iona Jetty on Monday
and a Merlin was seen from the Foreshore at the south foot of Dunbar on
Saturday.

Sightings for Monday, July 27

The duck seen in Abbotsford and thought to be a possible immature
Black-bellied Whistling Duck has been confirmed as a hybrid.

Sightings for Sunday, July 26

A GREY CATBIRD could still be found at Blackie Spit and the WILLET has
returned to the base of the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty.

At Iona Island 16 HEERMANN'S GULLS were at the tip of the south jetty, and
the outer pond had a TUFTED DUCK and a MERLIN. Low wader numbers included
200 to 300 WESTERN SANDPIPERS, 30 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 5 SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPERS, 2 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 1 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER.

In a late report for Saturday a RUDDY TURNSTONE was seen with BLACK-BELLIED
PLOVERS in a field at the end of 88th Street in Delta on the west side.

Sightings for Saturday July 25:

The rare bird alert continues for the EMPEROR GOOSE, which was again seen
with Canada Geese at Porteau Cove Marine Park on Highway 99 north on the
way to Squamish.

At Iona Island 1 HEERMANN'S GULL and 1 RHINOCEROS AUKLET were seen off the
south jetty and the TUFTED DUCK was in the outer pond.

In a late report for Thursday 1 RUDDY TURNSTONE and 1 MARBLED GODWIT were
seen in a field off 88th Street in Delta.
