Micheal, Paul, and other Tweeters,

Another shared characteristic of these two species is that they both have
a tendancy to "dip", or have a bit of a "rump drop" (I can say rump on
this list now, can't I?). This is very characteristic of spotted
sandpipers (who at times can't seem to stop!), but tattlers and
a couple of other shorebird species have a tendancy to do this too.
I find the behavior interesting, but don't know what adaptive value it
might have? Anyone else know anything about why this might be beneficial
to a shorebird?
