Thanks for all your thoughtful remarks on this thread. I realize that I
could probably get additional advice from Audubon chapter education
committees, environmental education email lists, nature centers, etc. But
your comments have helped immensely, and I feel confident to order the
Garmin GPS II Plus and--thanks to your suggestions--I expect to order the
Nikon 7x21 Sprint II binoculars, which was not on my original short list,
but which I do like after handling them (guessing the kids will too).
