Subject: Clark College Gull Report #1
Date: Jul 30 15:18:59 1998
From: Raymond Korpi - rkorpi at csci.clark.edu

Yes, they're back. The California Gulls have started steadily moving down
stream and are starting to show up in some numbers on the Clark campus and
environs. Thus far, here are numbers for the last three mornings:
Tuesday: 3 birds seen
Wednesday: about 20
Today: about 50
The birds do scatter between the Clark Campus on both sides of Fort
Vancouver Way and the athletic fields at Hudson's Bay High School.
Numbers do vary somewhat depending on traffic on the fields and the number
viewable from the road or sidewalk on campus. A steady stream of birds
moving through east-west has been occurring in the area for about a
week--the flocks that are moving are usually distinguished by being
primarily adults and juveniles of the year, so that the flocks have a
distinct two-toned appearance. There was one second year bird hanging out
with a group of adults today, and more of the birds seen here in the
morning have been adults.
