Please accept my apology for my "dead wood" e-mail. When I sent it, it
seemed quite humorous but in retrospect I can see it missed the mark. I
certainly don't want to attempt to censor Tweeters but at the same time do
enjoy it when the topics stay a little closer to birds and birding. I have,
though, learned my lesson.

My comment about "our pleonastic friend from Vancouver" was taken in the
wrong vein by everyone including Michael Price. Pleonastic, in my
dictionary (the one I own, not the one I wrote) means using more words than
necessary to convey a point. A more liberal defination, and the one I
intended, is "being able to expound at length on a topic". Every good
author has that ability. Being able to describe a sunset in three hundred
words instead of one sentence in an art. I think that Michael Price has
that ability. He can also turn a phrase with the best of them. Just look
at his wording of my "insult" toward him: ". . . someone you've just
characterised as being 'linguistically defective'". The man has a way with
words. If Michael does not have several books in the works, I urge him to
start.
