A friend just forwarded this to me today...have not yet checked it out......

The Ornithological Council is pleased to announce that Recent
>Ornithological Literature (ROL)is now available online on the
>Ornithological Council website - BIRDNET - at www. nmnh.si.edu/BIRDNET.
>The three societies that published ROL as a supplement to their journals
>(American Ornithologists' Union with The Auk, British Ornithologists'
>Union with The Ibis, and Birds Australia with The Emu) decided to
>terminate distribution of the print version.
>
>Issue No. 75 was the last print version. Issue No. 76 is now available
>on BIRDNET in a .html format, with browsing available through links from
>the Contents to the individual sections. Although the .html version can
>be downloaded, formatting problems often occur when downloading this
>type of document. Therefore, we will be making another version
>available in the near future that will be more appropriate for
>downloading.
>
>ROL and the Ornithological Council intend to place the back issues of
>ROL on the BIRDNET website as soon as possible.
>
>While you are browsing through BIRDNET, why not take a moment to
>register in the Ornithological Council's database of ornithological
>expertise? The purpose of the database is to enable OC to provide
>private and public decision-makers with expert knowledge in a timely
>manner. The database is confidential and will be for the exclusive use
>of the OC and its member societies. Direct access to the database will
>be restricted to these organizations. Registrants may be asked by OC
>for reprints, expert advice, and to review materials. Several hundred
>ornithologists have already registered. OC encourages all ornithologists
>to register. The registration form can be reached through BIRDNET, OC's
>website, found at www.nmnh.si.edu/BIRDNET.
>
>You will also find the recently revised, peer-reviewed, Guidelines to
>the Use of Wild Birds in Research on BIRDNET.
>
>The Ornithological Council was founded in 1992 by seven scientific
>ornithological societies - the American Ornithologists' Union, Cooper
>Ornithological Society, Wilson Ornithological Society, Raptor Research
>Foundation, Colonial Waterbird Society, Pacific Seabird Group, and the
>Association of Field Ornithologists - and the Society for Caribbean
>Ornithology joined in 1998. We provide scientific information about
>birds and bird habitat to law makers, federal and state agencies who
>manage public lands and natural resources, decision makers in private
>industry, and conservation organizations. We also work to promote
>funding for research for science to support natural resource and land
>management decisions. We also represent the interests of ornithologists
>to the agencies that regulate the activities that comprise the
>scientific study of ornithology, such as permitting issues.
