This morning we went to Northrup canyon (7 mi. SW of town) to see what
was still hangin' around.

First let me say--WATCH OUT FOR RATTLESNAKES. One was on the trail and
we didn't see it, and it didn't know we were near until we were about
three feet from it. It was 3 1/2' +. When it started buzzing it's tail,
it was the loudest we have ever heard! It sounded like about 10 of them
all in high gear. Usually they start out rattling kindda slow. I guess
it was because we startled it. We jumped away and it also went away in
the opposite direction. Wheew! Okay on to birding.

It was pretty quite, but we did see:
