I just returned from a flyfishing trip to Eliguk Lake area in central BC,
about 50 air miles north of Nimpo Lake. I was there from May 22 thru 29th and
as usual I kept track of birds I saw or heard.

Common Loons, Bald Eagles, and Osprey were common. Saw one loon nest with two
eggs and one with one egg, also two other nest with unknown no. of eggs. It
was very interesting to see Solitary Sandpipers and Common Snipe perched in
8-15' spruce trees and Bonaparte's Gulls perched in 3-40' spruce trees.
Olive-sided Flycatchers arrived during my stay there, none for first two days
then many by end of stay. Others birds seen/heard were:

White-crowned Sparrow
Tree, Barn and Cliff Swallows
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Northern Flicker
Three-toed Woodpecker
Red-winged Blackbird
Sora
American Robin
Dark-eyed Junco
American Crow
Common Raven
Chipping Sparrow
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Common Yellowthroat
Gray and Steller's Jay
Black Tern
Spotted Sandpiper
Mallard
Ring-necked Duck
Blue-winged Teal
Surf Scoter
Canada Goose
Northern Shoveler
Bufflehead
Spruce and Ruffed Grouse
Wilson's and Townsend's Warblers
Varied Thrush

For Jack Bowling's info, a man working at the Eliguk L. Lodge for the summer
will keep track of the loon nests and let me know when and how many of the
eggs hatch.
