Saturday, May 30, 12:08 PM: Hi. This is Stephen Mlodinow. Today Dennis Duffy
and I birded around Snohomish County and a little bit of Skagit County. Up at
the Skagit Game Range Headquarters at the foreshore there we had a FORSTER'S
TERN. At the Stanwood Sewage Pond there were 6 WILSON'S PHALAROPES. On 28th
Street off of Norman Road northwest of Silvana there were 5 breeding plumaged
FRANKLIN'S GULLS in a field that also had MEW AND BONYS and 6 more WILSON'S
PHALAROPES. At the Everett Sewage Ponds there were 4 more WILSON'S PHALAROPES
and another FRANKLIN'S GULL as well as 6 REDHEADS. At the Snohomish Sewage
Pond there was a BLACK TERN and along Marsh Road heading from Snohomish and
Route 9 towards Everett, in a flooded field, there were 6 more WILSON'S
PHALAROPES. If anyone had an inkling to go to the Kent Ponds today or other
such places in Western Washington, I would, because there seems to be a
distinct influx of eastside waterbirds. That's it. Good luck and good birding.
Oh! One last thing. Along Lowell-Larimer Road, the same pond that had the
TUFTED DUCK scaupish hybrid, there is now a MALLARDxWOOD DUCK hybrid lending
a lot of worry to the wild origins of all the birds in that pond. That's it.

May 30, 2:52 PM: Hi. This is Scott Hoskins. I just birded Montlake Fill and
there is an AMERICAN AVOCET and a WILSON'S PHALAROPE on the north end of the
main pond. I got there at about 10:30 and left at about 2 and both of them
were still there. Good luck and good birding.

May 30, 3:52 PM: Hi. This is Stephen Mlodinow. Stopped in at the Monroe
Prison Farm Pond and had 12 more WILSON'S PHALAROPES there. Birds like the
PHALAROPES, FRANKLIN'S GULL, BLACK TERN, FORSTER'S TERN, AMERICAN AVOCET,
maybe even BLACK-NECKED STILT should all be looked for heavily this weekend
given this influx. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

Sunday, May 31, 6:41 AM: Hello. This is Wayne Weber, (604) 597-7201. I am
phoning to report a male BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER. Yesterday, May 30, at
Northrup Canyon near Steamboat Rock State Park in Grant County. The bird was
singing not very far from the parking lot in Northrup Canyon along the upper
trail which goes along the lower part of the talus slopes. It was feeding with
some BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES and a couple of WILSON'S and TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS
and was singing almost constantly between about 9:30 AM and 10:45 AM. I had a
devil of a time seeing it. I started off finding it along the lower trail or
road and had to stumble around the talus slope for quite awhile to get a
decent look at it. Perhaps it will be there for the next couple of days. The
only other thing I had of interest on May 30th was some RED-NECKED PHALAROPES
at Atkins Lake west of Coulee City on US 2. There were at least 20 RED-NECKED
PHALAROPES in Atkins Lake and another 10 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES very close to
the road - I forget the name of the north south road that leaves US 2 on the
west side of Atkins Lake. That's it for now.

May 31, 3:21 PM: Hi. This is Scott Downes, 361-7073. Today about 11 o'clock I
was out at the Kent Ponds. Among highlights were: 3 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS,
2 BANK SWALLOWS, 8 BLUE-WINGED TEAL, 7 WILSON'S PHALAROPE and 5 SPOTTED
SANDPIPERS. That's it, Good luck and good birding.

May 31, 10:08 PM: Hi. This is Stephen Mlodinow. Today Bob Norton, Bill Tweit
and I spent the morning out in the Neah Bay regions and actually had precious
little. A lingering OLDSQUAW or two and a BLACK SCOTER were about it. At the
end of the day at the Everett Sewage Ponds there were still 5 WILSON'S
PHALAROPES. These were actually across the street from the north side of the
sewage ponds, just across NE 12th Street. There were 5 birds there. That's
