I've especially enjoyed the discussion of weasels in our area. I saw my
first weasel about five years ago in a field surrounded by a jogging path
next to Rogers High School. It ambled across the path about 15-20 yards in
front of me on a late June day. With a quick look at it I gauged it's size
and basic coloration, but that's about all. When I considered the habitat
mentioned in the guides I consulted, it was enough info for me to decide it
was a Long-tailed Weasel. With this discussion I feel even more confident.

Because of my renewed interest in birds, beginning about ten years or so
ago, I have seen more mammals than ever before. Beaver and Muskrats at
Luther Burbank Park, a Douglas Squirrel near my school, River Otters at
Nisqually, a Striped Skunk crossing the street near Bellevue City Hall, and
a Porcupine in a willow in southeastern Washington, to name a few! Focusing
on birds has drawn my attention to the whole world of nature.
