For those of you who are as cheap as I am, I checked with the Seattle
Public Library today and they have 23 copies of

Alden, Peter and Paulson, Dennis. 1998. National Audubon Society
Field Guide to the Pacific Northwest. Knopf 448 pp. Price at $19.95.
ISBN: 0-679-44679-6.

on order. I do need to add to my field guides but I like to check out a
book first. I'm looking for a book with mammal tracks, esp. raccoon vs.
river otter. There's a game trail at the locks, I've seen raccoons there
and others have reported otters. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they
had a path around the dam. I also wanted to agree with Dennis P. of the
willingness of Tweets to talk about non-birds. Coming across a weasel,
otter or whatever is as exciting as a rare bird to me. (Well, almost!)
