Many years ago at Sedro Woolley , we had what we thought was a pack
rat move into the wall over the arch door to the living room. As it
would make noise we would pound on the wall to encourage it to move
on . From time to time it would come out into the cabinet under the
sink. One night thinking to catch it I very silently got the handle
of the drawer and pulled it open. The drawer went closed faster the
it came open as the visitor was a small spotted skunk. The only one I
have sean in 50 plus years in the state. We did begin to feed it
under the sink and it became quite tame.It wouldn't let us touch it
but would take food from our hand. All mice disappeared from the old
house while the skunk was present. Only once did it smell and that
was when a dog caught it out side one night, the dog was much wiser I
think and the skunk was fine. Larry Goodhew Walla Walla
