Hello, This is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday June 4. If you have anything to add call
Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

The basic plumaged ARCTIC LOON at Yaquina Bay continues to be seen. It
moves around quite a bit so check the entire bay.

On May 28 an EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE was heard singing at Malheur NWR. It was
later captured and banded. It is still being reported. At Buena Vista
Station at Malheur an EASTERN PHOEBE was found May 31 checking out an
outbuilding near the bridge. It has also remained.

A very cooperative YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was found May 30 along the
Central patrol Road at Malheur NWR. It remains about 3.5 miles north of
the P Ranch. Look for a white flag on the roadside willows.

A GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE has been seen near Klamath Falls since May 20.
Check along Highway 97 at the north end of town, about a mile north of
the college.

An unusually large number of WESTERN KINGBIRDS are being seen along the
southern Oregon coast. An ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was at Brookings May
28. A SAY'S PHOEBE is still being seen on the North Spit of Coos Bay.
BROWN PELICANS and HEERMANN'S GULLS are now moving northward along the
coast.

A male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK visited a North Portland feeder May 28, but
did not remain. A NIGHTHAWK was over North Portland June 1.

A CASPIAN TERN, an AVOCET, and up to 5 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were at
the Fernhill Wetlands at Forest Grove during the week, another CASPIAN
was at Baskett Slough NWR near Salem May 28.

Two GRAY JAYS are now visiting a Philomath feeder. Two BLACK TERNS, 3
REDHEADS, 5 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, and a pair of WILSON'S PHALAROPES were
at Creswell May 29. A male RED-BREASTED MERGANSER was at Lost Creek Dam
on the Rogue River May 29.

The first NIGHTHAWK was at Fields May 30, and small flocks totalling
about 60 birds were over the Klamath Basin May 31. A bright male
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK is now visiting a feeder between Bend and Redmond.
A hybrid ROSE-BREASTED X BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was along Wildhorse Creek
between Pendleton and Adams May 29.

Four FRANKLIN'S GULLS and 12 CASPIAN TERNS were among the many gulls
attracted to the flood waters at Prineville May 31. A late WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW was at Summer Lake May 30.

A male BLACKPOLL WARBLER was at Malheur Headquarters May 30. A female was
there earlier. A PALM WARBLER was there June 1. A LEAST FLYCATCHER was at
Fields May 31. A PLUMBEOUS VIREO was there June 1, and a female
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK and a female BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER were there
June 2.

Thats it for this week.
