Up here in Bellingham (Sunset Pond) we have been amazed at the roosting
of Starlings (primarily immature). There's a few hundred at this point
but their numbers seem to be growing. This started happening about a week
ago. I don't see that many adults around.

Its intriguing to think about what it is that tells these fledglings that
once they leave the nest they should go and find a place to hang out with
other fledgling Starlings.

I still have been able to listen to the singing of the Yellow Warblers
and for the last couple of days the fitz bew of a Willow Flycatcher. The
fledgling Starlings do give way when a Red-winged Blackbird wants its
perch.
