Sounds like a bad batch to me. I recently bought the Eagle Optics Ranger
10x50 (Celestron) and have been loving them. The center focus is fluid
in focusing, but rock solid once I have the critter. You might want to
try getting a replacement from a newer shippment from the factory, or
check to see if they have a recall due to a defective part. Good luck.
