Tweets - have any of you observed Three-toed Woodpeckers
making sapwells? From time to time people discover trees
riddled with sapsucker-type holes in the Upper Cook Inlet
area, but no one has seen a sapsucker per se. One reputable
local birder says he has seen 3-toeds making sapwells, and
I have no reason to doubt him, but wonder why it is not mentioned
in Bent's or the Audubon Encyclopedia, or Kaufman's Lives
of N. American Birds.
