Saturday, June 6

3 Common Nighthawks, Evening Grosbeaks, A Red-breasted Sapsucker, and
Downy, Hairy and Pileated Woodpeckers were all at 4655 Carrieview Drive off
Prospect Lake Road. Birders are welcome to enjoy the rich birdlife in this
yard.

2 Red-breasted Sapsuckers were at Camp Bernard in the Sooke area.

A Blue Grouse was at Tugwell Lake.

Several Blue Grouse were heard along the Jordan River-Port Renfrew Highway
during a breeding bird survey.

Friday, June 5
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
14 Wood Ducks, including 10 males, were at the Pike Lake sub-station on
Munns Road.

2 Nighthawks were farther along Munns Road near the Goodwin farm.

A TUFTED PUFFIN and a CASPIAN TERN flew by Clover Point. 2 Heermann's Gulls
were at Clover Point as well. Clover Point is one of the better areas to
see a TUFTED PUFFIN fly by. Patience and a long wait may be required.

Thursday, June 4

An AMERICAN KESTREL was on Mt. Doug in Saanich.

Wednesday, June 3

A CRESTED CARACARA was confirmed at a logging camp on Drury Inlet, which is
east of Port Hardy on the mainland. Negotiations will continue in order to
receive permission to see this bird.

Tuesday, June 2

A LAZULI BUNTING was on the east side of Mt. Tolmie.

3 Ospreys flew over View Royal.

A possible Sandhill Crane flew over Stelly's School.

Monday, June 1

A Wilson's Phalarope was at Viaduct Flats.
