Columbia Estuary Report 6/7/98

There are still two PARASITIC JAEGERS harassing CASPIAN TERNS at
the South Jetty of the Columbia River. Good numbers of HEERMMANN'S
GULLS are moving north following the BROWN PELICANS. A single
WHIMBREL and a BRANT were at the shorebird flats of the SJCR.

Birds seemed very vocal today with many ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS,
COMMON YELLOWTHROATS and YELLOW WARBLERS setting up territories.

A WESTERN WOOD PEWEE was in the willows near parking lot C and a
darkly cryptic Empidonax was making "whit, whit" calls (almost
certainly a DUSKY FLYCATCHER) at Hammond Boat Basin.
