Pat,

This is a question that you can ask ten people and get ten different
answers. I have, and strongly recommend, Nikon 10x42 Superior E binos.
They are the clearest and brightest binos I have looked through. (And after
I got them I compared them with nearly every top binocular by borrowing a
look from birders I encountered for a direct comparison). They weigh only
25 oz. which makes them among the lighter of the 10-powers. You can get
them for about $600 plus shipping as advertised in several ads in Birder's
World and probably other birding magazines. They are a porro prism bino so
are slightly bulkier then the roof prisms but are a joy to hold and look
through.
