I am remiss at not posting this earlier.

I birded eastern Washington and the panhandle of Idaho a couple weeks ago.
While the area was peculiarly lacking flycatchers* the birding was great
fun.

*(I saw one [silent] Empid in Idaho, no Kingbirds; one Empid at Wenas at
the end of the week -- and the first kingbird in WA at the end of the
week ???????)

But birding Idaho was a ball and easy to do because I had the Dan Svingen
and Kas Dumroese book, "A Birder's Guide to Idaho." (340 pages, ABA
Sales, 1-800-634-7736, $17.95!!) This brand new book, in the classic ABA
Birdfinding Guide format, is beautifully put together, and well illustrated
with accurate, easy to follow, maps. It led me directly to target birds
and to wonderful birding areas.

Everybody who lives in the west or birds in the west should have that book!

The trip was so great, I'm going back east of the mountains next week.
This time with 4 wheel drive to get over that cattle guard at Wenas that
threatened the undercarriage and exhaust system of my Maxima.<G>
