Marbled Murrelets can be expected along any relatively sheltered sections
of the Olympic coastline within one mile of shore. They seem more
visible along the north shoreline of the Olympic Peninsula rather than
along the beaches near La Push or Ozette, but this might be a function of
them avoiding wave action or certain substrates nearshore. Good spots to
see them include off Salt Creek County Park near Joyce, the Cape Flattery
trail and overlook (look for puffins here, too, and shearwaters beyond
Tatoosh Island), and at the Twin River area between Joyce and Clallam
Bay. If you're driving back into the Seattle area, there's usually a
couple pairs in Sequim Bay, visible from the north parking area at John
Wayne Marina. From shore you'll probably need a telescope to see them
well.

Or if you have a boat, cruise between Port Angeles and Clallam Bay about
a half mile offshore and you'll see a few hundred. Or visit an old
growth forest near Forks about 4:30-5:00 AM and listen to them calling
overhead. (Oops, I forgot, old growth forests don't exist near Forks
anymore! You might have a bit of a drive, like to the Bogachiel State
Park, Hoh Rain Forest, or other areas in Olympic National Park. Go
camping, and wake up to the descending whistles of Marbled Murrelets
above the treetops.)
