I just spent a week near Winthrop (about 3000' elevation, open Ponderosa
Pine forest), and we had a Hummingbird feeder out. We saw a bunch of
hummers, at least one of which was a Calliope Male. While we could
distinguish a number of distinct individuals (and some of them appeared
larger than others), I am reluctant to go out on a limb about id. From
the description of wing length in the guidebooks, I would say that several
of them were Calliope females.
