the South Jetty of the Columbia River, Clatsop Co., OR

Method: 60 minute station count at 100m west of "3 rocks" on
SJCR using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting on beach, sitting
on ocean or sitting on river.

Notes: Most of the PACIFIC LOONS were sitting on the ocean moving
around in feeding groups of 20-30. COMMON MURRES were mostly moving
north, about 10% were moving south. Two RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were
feeding on the ocean near the jetty for most of the observation period.
The BLACK SWAN (certainly an escape) was fly north with a group of
murres about one half mile out.
