Patty Pollari reported a WESTERN SCREECH-OWL, BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD and
WESTERN TANAGER in her West Richland yard on June 1. On June 2, Dennis
Rockwell found 2 GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS and a BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK in Two
Rivers Park and Mary and Mike Lilga observed a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH in
their Richland yard.

The following day, I (Bob Woodley) found a male BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD,
a WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE, and 2 YELLOW-BREASTED CHATS in WE Johnson Park.

Randy Hill of Othello noted an OSPREY, possibly still migrating, 5 miles
east of Othello on May 30 and reported a very late WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW on
the Columbia NWR on June 4. Randy also mentioned vocal YELLOW-BREASTED
CHATS along the Creek Trail just below Marsh Unit 1 and CANYON WRENS in
Marsh Unit 3 on the refuge.

On June 5, Ruth Fischer and I observed SORAS in a pond on both sides of
Bunn Road, south of King Tull Road, near Prosser and heard at least 1
VIRGINIA RAIL there.

On the Bateman Island bird walk on June 6, Dennis Rockwell found 2 WESTERN
WOOD-PEWEES among other species and the following day, Dennis and his wife
Glenda reported nesting BLACK-NECKED STILTS and AMERICAN AVOCETS along
Dodd-Iowa Beef Road in the same locality they used last year, but in
reduced numbers.

On June 9, I (BW) found a VAUX'S SWIFT in Groves Park in Richland and on
June 11 was surprised to see a male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD at my feeder.

Craig Corder and Judy Stevens birding at the Patterson Unit of the Umatilla
NWR observed 2 WILSON'S PHALAROPES, 7 male BLUE-WINGED TEAL and a CLARK'S
GREBE, but most exciting, they saw 2 WHITE-FACED IBIS that appeared to set
their wings for landing but apparently continued on and a 4 hour search
failed to relocate them.

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number and
sightings after the tone. Thank you.
