Eric,

Thanks for the information! I work for the Naval Research
Lab. I'm a mathematician. I specialize in solving wave
equations (acoustics, elasticity, gravity waves, etc.)
and solving inverse problems.

I realize that things are far apart out West. I just got back
from doing a 3000 mile loop out of Denver that included
a few stops in Colorado, Wyoming, and all the way up to
Lostwood NWR in ND. Last year I did a 12000 mile loop that
originated in DC and got as far west as SE AZ and MT. So
I'm not afraid of distances.

I've never been birding up in your area. So I'm really
looking forward to it. I'm definitely going to get out
to the peninsula--even if I have to drive all night to
get there. I'm also thinking seriously of heading out
toward Spokane to look for the Black-backed Woodpeckers
that were reported on Tweeters. Do you know of anyone
from the Seattle area who might want to ride along? They's
be welcome. That looks like just a 5 or 6 hour drive
at most. I can easily handle that.

I have a copy of Diann MacRae's book on WA. I'm going to
have to get a copy of the book by Wahl & Paulson. It
sounds like a good one.

I really appreciate your taking the time to type in all
that info! I'm going to be at the Holiday Inn in Seattle
464-1980 in case you want to contact me regarding your
trip tomorrow or the BBWP trip I'm planning. I'm checking
in on Sunday night.

Mike
