Hey Tweets,

The last week or so has brought quite a few visitors including a lot of
newly fledged to my yard including: Downy Woodpecker, Flicker, Pileated
Woodpecker, RB Nuthatch (the in yard nesters raised 7 Nuthatchlings!),
at least 3 broods of Chestnut-backed Chickadees, Black Capped
Chickadees, Song Sparrows, Spotted Towhee, Dark-eyed Junco, VG and Tree
Swallows, BH Grosbeaks (adults only), House Finches, Stellers Jays (I
have as many as 10 at the feeders at once eating cat food), and Crows.
Always fun to watch the kids. Last evening a Pileated fledgling emptied
a big birdbath in about 3 seconds with vigorous splashing.

Last Saturday I watched a Bald Eagle vs. Golden Eagle encounter over the
house. Much screeching and finally a talon to talon grapple before the
Golden took off to points south.

And on Wednesday around 3:15 I had a very unusual visitor to the front
drive. A young black bear, around 150 lbs., came running out of the
green belt just above the house, saw me, rounded the corner and took off
down the street before plunging into the next greenbelt down the hill.
Set every dog alarm off for blocks. Quite fun.

Good Birding,

Rob Conway
