Hi Tweets!

On Monday I was hiking the short trail at Troublesome Creek 10 miles NE
of Index, WA. with non-birding friends from Minnesota. We watched a
dipper catching insects and flying downstream to a nest in a rock
crevice. At least, we assumed there was a nest. The bird would hunt in
the only semi-quiet stretch of the water, going back and forth between
three rocks, until its bill was full of 5-6 large bugs. Between catches
it would butt its bill against a rock. We didn't know if it was killing
the insects or rearranging them in its bill. Then it would head
downstream. It would return in a couple of minutes and do the same thing
over again. We watched for about 15 minutes and the bird probably
caught 20 bugs. My friends were impressed.
