Maybe this is "old news" to the list, but my wife and I were exploring
northwest of Cle Elum earlier this week and stumbled onto FS Road 4330
which leads from the end of WA-903 to Tucquala L., passing through several
miles of birdy spruce and other forest along the lovely Cle Elum River.
Two species we especially enjoyed along this way were lots of Black Swifts
overhead, and then at the lake itself, about a dozen Common Nighthawks
feeding over the lake like storm-petrels. There were also at least 2
families of goldeneyes on the lake. Plenty of signs of "three-toed"
woodpeckers although we didn't happen to encounter one.

Cheers,
