I see that there have been several requests for good places to see
black-back woodpeckers and Mt bluebirds. I just finished this years point
counts in the Thunder Fire area-Thirtymile Meadows. There are LOTS of both
up there this year. I'll have a complete list of birds after I compile the
data but I can say that it seems to be a pretty successful year for
woodpecker fledglings. I found >20 three-toed WP and >10 BBWP on one day
of the counts last week. Moose are abundant this year too, so watch your
step!
A reminder: if anyone is interested in the workshops that we hold
in that area, I need to hear from you by the end of next week.
