Tweets,

Barb Shelman and I went to the Cheese Factory Clearcut near Lacey this morning
in search of the CLAY-COLORED SPARROW. He was in the northeast corner as he
has been for the last couple of weeks, but seems to have expanded the area
where he sings. He was part of a 5 sparrow day, along with lots of WHITE-
CROWNED SPARROWS, CHIPPING SPARROWS, SONG SPARROWS, and a couple of SAVANAH
SPARROWS. In addition, we found a covey of CALIFORNIA QUAIL near the northeast
corner of the clearcut.

We also saw a NORTHERN HARRIER and heard RED-TAILED HAWKS. Other birds in
evidence were COMMON YELLOWTHROATS, NORTHERN FLICKERS, DARK-EYED JUNCOS, lots
of PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS, and SPOTTED TOWHEES. CROWS and ROBINS were also
present. RUFOUS HUMMERS were also pleantiful. Lots of rabbits are in the area,
too.

We never did see the LAZULI BUNTING, but there are supposed to be in the area.
(Any help here, Eric?)

All in all, from 7:00 to 9:00 am it was a great morning. We got in and out
before the dirt bikers.
