Hello Oregon, Washington and California Birders,

My nephew in Bend Oregon has been saying for a year or two there is a
large owl at the local golf course. He knows Great Horned Owl and Barn
Owl and said it wasn't either of them. With his general description I
always assumed it was a Spotted Owl. But while visiting the area and
golfing at the course (first time in 25 years), they had a picture in
the clubhouse of the owl. It is a Great Gray Owl picture!!!!

They report the bird is seen at dusk and dawn every few days by golfers
usually around Hole # 8 green and # 9 tee (with good nearby meadow
loooking habitat off the course) and Hole # 3. Hole # 9 is just to the
right from the clubhouse parking lot and would be easy to check out
without even being on the golf course.

We didn't get a chance to search for the bird. Hopefully others can get
here and check it out sooner than we can get back there.

It would be great to have an accessible findable bird like this.
Hopefully it will stay relatively undisturbed and findable here.

Good Owling.
